Cathy Jackson
After earning a B.A. in English from Loyola College in Montreal and a Teaching Degree with a specialty in Early Childhood Education from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Cathy Jackson taught kindergarten and grade one in Toronto while completing Primary Specialist qualifications. Then, off to Wales and Scotland she went to teach for two years! Upon her return to Canada, Cathy completed a B.Ed. and became a Special Education Specialist before diving into a fruitful 27 year-long teaching career.
In her time as an educator, Cathy noticed the lack of resources designed with students’ abilities in mind. She then decided to create fun characters and light-hearted situations in short stories, teaching a few letter sounds and sight words in each book. The letter and word activities grew as she noted the need for reinforcement through play. Her students’ enthusiasm and engagement encouraged her to develop her resources to offer them a stronger reading foundation.
