More about One Story a Day

One Story a Day offers a unique path towards literacy, with one story for each day of the year. Each base set increases in complexity as your young readers develop confidence and reading abilities while also allowing for more in-depth discussions on topics like friendship, nature, and history. Then, check out the science edition of One Story a Day to immerse your kids in science-oriented short stories complete with activities and reflection questions to encourage curiosity and foster interest in STEM fields. Most recently, we added the Laughs and Explain the Joke books to keep you smiling! And don't miss our special One Story a Day by Kids for Kids anthologies, written by bright students across the country. See what others your age want to share with the world!

Track Your Daily Reading

Get ready to read! Our One Story a Day collection now includes monthly reading trackers for each series: Beginners, Early Readers, Intermediate, Science, Débutants, and Jeunes lecteurs.

Simply download and fill in the tracker (download here), check off every day after reading its story, and send us your finished month at info@dc-canada.ca to receive a certificate! At the end of one year’s worth of daily reading, you’ll receive a Program Completion Certificate.

Participants outside Canada who receive a year-end certificate are eligible to participate in our international writing contest for a chance to be published! Learn more here. Canadian readers should instead participate in our Canadian Children's Writing Contest that takes place every second year.
